Vic’s 2013 Preakness Predictions

Below I will be stating the complete field for the Preakness in the position I believe they will finish.  Enjoy.

1. Orb – he’s training like a monster, he won the Kentucky Derby and is on a five race win steak.  He is the horse to beat, best connections in the world.

2. Governor Charlie – if he gets a nice trip I could see him winning the race.  He was my top pick for the Derby until he had his minor setback.

3. Mylute – always runs a good race, should be somewhere in the superfecta.

4. Departing – working great, but the question remains if he is good enough.

5. Oxbow – didn’t like his last work, but he’s tough stuff should improve with smaller field.

6. Will Take Charge – the wise guy horse, don’t know if he’s good enough.

7. Goldencents – I think the Cali horses are weak for the most part, including this one.

8. Itsmyluckyday – tired horse, been in training too long.

9. Titletownfive – does not belong in this race whatsoever, should be running in a G3 6f Sprint somewhere.

About Vic Sikorski

My love for racing was the culmination of many things. In the summer of 2002, my grandpa took me to Arlington Park when I was about thirteen years old. He had already been a long-time owner and breeder of Thoroughbreds for decades, but living far from the track I rarely got the chance to go. This visit to the track however, would change my life forever. A flame began to flicker after that visit, and that flame has continued to grow ever since. By the time Seabiscuit rolled around on the big screen, I had already read through the Blood-Horse’s Top 100 Thoroughbreds of the 20th Century about thirty times or more. My love for racing was sealed with the Seabiscuit film, and since then I have been studying Thoroughbred racing nearly every day of my life. Racing’s history would rank among my favorite things it has to offer. I never got to see horses like Citation or Swaps, but hearing stories and reading books has been a great help in building my understanding of the sport. Although I love racing’s history, racing today is just as wonderful. It is true, today’s horses don’t race as often but on occasion we do get to witness a horse that’s really special. Few horses have pulled at the hearts of men like Zenyatta did over her years of racing, and few fillies have ever had as ambitious a campaign as Rachel Alexandra had in 2009. Prior to those two we had Ghostzapper, who didn’t run often but made up for it by being one of the most gifted horses of our time. Racing has been my passion for so many years, and with all that it has done for me I’d like to return the favor. I am happy and excited to be a part of the Winners Wire team, and I hope that we can spread our love for both Harness and Thoroughbred racing to the general public. The future of racing is now, so please feel free to join us.

  1. Thanks for the picks, Vic. Can’t see Orb losing but I’m hoping Mylute gets the place with Oxbow third. That’s based on my jockey preferences and not on the horses! Good luck to all the participants….
