Why Harness Racing is Dying

I have been a harness racing fan for well over thirty years. I have seen the good times and the bad times. So much has changed in the thirty plus years, and it is hard to tell if these changes are good or bad. I know I have seen a few trends in the past few years that have me worried for this great sport that I love so much. So lets discuss some of the trends and you decide if these are good or bad. The first thing that comes to mind is the drug problem. An honest...

Meadowlands selections for Friday 6/30/17

1st. #5 Vivacious Allie 5/1ML— Very evenly matched field of first starters. She dug in well in her last qualifier, and gets John Campbell in the bike on his last night of driving in his career. 5-1-2 2nd. #2 Be Bop Sally 9/5ML— Not much to go on with these 2 year old filly trotters. She appears to be faster than anyone in this field. My best advice is to watch the post parade really closely here. I know I will be watching to see if anyone stands out in a good way or bad way.  2-6-1 3rd. #2...

Meadowlands Selections for Friday June 23rd

1st. #4 Walks Of Life 5/1ML— Cut fast fractions and simply tired late in the mile. He got a week off to freshen up, and gets his regular pilot back in the bike.  4-5-8-3 2nd. #2 Claire/ 2A Law of Attraction 10-1ML— There are many angles to go with in this race. For me, when having options, take the better value. Everyone will be on the Smedshammer entry with both horses getting huge driver changes and good starting spots. Others will be on #3 Muscle High, as he was forced very wide at the top of the lane when...

Issues with the Meadowlands

As a big harness racing fan, and a fan of the Big M this gives me no great pleasure to write this. The Big M has so many issues, I am not even sure where to begin. I go from forum to forum and see all the stuff written, and I must agree with a lot of this. I think for me, tonight Friday April 21st was the last straw for me. Go watch the seventh race, and watch the drive by Pat Lachance on the big favorite #6 Penpal. I know what you are going to say, sour...

She looked very strong trotting powerfully through the wire. Good for another tonight. 6-1-2-7 3rd. 1A/Entry 9/5ML— Two horses for the price of one.  Keystone I Wish is very sharp right now, and Vorst raced well against tougher in her last race.  1-4-5-2 4th. #5 Lauderdale 3/1ML— Returns to The Big M off of a speed try against tougher at Yonkers.  Drops in class, and picks...
