Hey Wire Gang!
Every week we will send out our regular recap that will feature top handicappers for harness and thoroughbred along with any other accolades at the Winners Wire.
Weekly Buy In Contest Results
Hey gang! Q3 is off to a terrific start, let’s check out the recent competitions on The Wire…
We’ve had a couple buy-ins since our last update. First up was Flamboro Downs on October 7th. We had ten players participating in a tough card. This one wasn’t particularly close – a lot of us struggled, but 5Star ran away with it. He had four wins on the day, totaling $82.90 across the board, over $30 clear of the next competitor. If that wasn’t impressive enough, he amassed that total in a ten race card. How about that? Congratulations Brian on the win!
Last week, we followed up with a fantastic contest at Pocono Downs on Saturday. This contest was particularly special, because if coincided with our first in-person meet-up for the site! More than half of our regular players attended, and it was a great celebration of the Wire, our players, and the sport. We had two guest players at the track, which we watched live at the Pacers Club – Will Gooch and Bernardine – who would come in first and second respectively with totals of $118.30 and $100.90 in the contest. Outstanding performances from both first time players, congratulations!
TBred Ladder Contest and No Favorite Challenge
One terrific contest drew to a close, and another has begun.
We held the finale for the TBred Ladder Contest last Saturday, October 8th at Belmont. Thirteen players originally entered, and we had two separate brackets. Only two players would stand in the end, making it to the finales of their respective brackets. Real Q dominated the winners bracket, and entered the finals after several cards of byes. WinHarness duked it out, and survived several tough weeks in the losers bracket, beating everybody who he went up against to get a shot at Real Q. It was close, with only $2.10 separating the two in the end. Congratulations Peter ‘Real Q’ on the big victory in the contest, and amazing playing by Paul ‘WinHarness’ week after week in the competition to make it to the finale!
At the Wire, since we know how much our players love contests, we always have our next competition planned before the prior ends. This allowed us to seamlessly transitioned into the No Favorite Challenge. We’ll be running for five weeks, and no horses with morning line odds below 4-1 can be picked. These cards don’t count against your quarterly stats, so don’t be afraid to go for broke, and pick some real long shots! We held the first week of our contest at Hoosier Wednesday, and a few players are lighting it up. Acetime and Zwiebel are in first and second with totals of $85.00 and $84.80, with a half dozen other players within striking distance. Round two will be next week. Best of luck to all players!
NFL Weekly Buy In
Two more weeks in the books, and two more winners in the NFL weekly buy-in series. In Week 5, Boss Hoss cleaned up with a strong 5-1 performance. This would be his first win of the season, with a nice prize of $55 going his way. This past week was a bit tougher, with almost all players at or below .500. That is, except for 5Star, who put together a perfect sheet, going 6-0 on the day, to walk away with the victory. Awesome playing Hoss and Brian the past couple of weeks!
The Week 7 thread is up, so give it a shot if you’re interested. Remember, there’s no weekly commitment, so you can jump right in even if you haven’t played yet this season. Good luck!
Where are we with the HOTM competitions at this point in time? So far on the Harness Circuit, FPL is the player to beat. His $2.34 ROI in the month on top of a strong 27.59% win percentage leads all players. 5Star and Real Q are both close, with ROIs of $2.10 and $2.13 respectively. Still a lot of racing this month, it’ll be a wide open affair. As for the Thoroughbred Circuit, WinHarness leads all players so far. He has a 31.37% win percentage and $1.91 ROI. Cam and Mark are both presently above the 25% qualifying threshold, and will have a say in the winner as well. Best of luck to all competitors this month!
