Hey Wire Gang!

Every week we will send out our regular recap that will feature top handicappers for harness and thoroughbred along with any other accolades at the Winners Wire.

We’re into November, and even though it’s getting chilly outside, competition on the Wire is hot as ever!

Weekly Buy In Contest Results

A couple weeks ago, we had one of the most popular annual contests on the Wire – our Breeders Cup Day Buy-In. Racing took place on November 4th, with the venue being Del Mar. We attracted ten participants, at $10 apiece, with the winner from the previous week, FPL, kicking in $30 to the pot. This was a very, very tough card. A lot of players had difficulty finding wins on the card. The exception to the rule, was Mark, who had 4 wins, to lead all players, and a total of $161.00 across the board. Sounds impressive? Next highest was $66.60. Lapping the field by nearly $100 is impressive! Awesome showing Mark, and thanks again Frankie for sponsoring!

For those who missed the racing, check out the replay of the Breeders Cup Classic.

We followed that up with this past week’s buy-in at Yonkers on Saturday. This one was much closer. Nine participants, with the average player winning more than 3 races on the card. Cam and FPL would jump out to leads early, and would trade places throughout the night constantly. After the final lead change in the 11th race, FPL would take the win narrowly, with a margin of $101.10-$98.10 over Cam. Very close! Congrats FPL, and great playing Cam!

No Favorite Challenge

Last we left off after week 3, Mark had taken the lead. Week 4 of the competition saw Zwiebel taking back the lead, though it’s still tight. Going into the final card of the contest tonight, the top three in the standings are Zwiebel – $257.80, WinHarness – $256.80, Cam – $255.60. Yes, this thing is incredibly close! Good luck to all players in the finale!

NFL Weekly Buy In

Time for an update on our weekly NFL contestsWeek 9 was a close one, with three players – Cam, FPL, John – all securing four wins on Sunday, and a place in the tiebreaker on Monday Night. It ended up being a high scoring affair, with the Lions beating the Packers 30-17. FPL had the highest over/under, and pulled it off. Week 10 on the other hand, was settled early. Oneg won 5 of 6 in the afternoon, and put it away early. No tiebreaker needed – great playing Gene!

HOTM Update

We’re a couple weeks into November, time to check in to the HOTM races. Among harness players, Valboro looks like the guy to beat. He has a $2.22 ROI in November, as well as a 37.78% win percentage. Both are well clear of the next highest player. As for our tbred circuit, Mark has been the clear top player this month. He has a $3.18 ROI in November and 33.33%, both lapping the field. Best of luck to both of you in the second half of the month!

Top Handicappers of the Week

Harness Handicapper of the Week: This past week, Acetime has put on a show. His $2.53 ROI leads all players, and his 36.36% win percentage tie for the lead. Great capping Archie!

Thoroughbred Handicapper of the Week: This weekend with thoroughbreds, WinHarness was our top player. He put up a strong $2.25 ROI, and a 33.33% win percentage. The best combination of any player. WTG Gooch!

Long Shot of the Week: Surprisingly enough, the top payout this past week was *not* in the no favorites challenge! Saturday at Gulfstream, Shenanigans had a monster hit. In the 7th race, she hit on the #1 horse, Silent Citizen, which paid $35.20 to win. How about that! Even better, she followed that up with a $22.40 winner in the next race. Awesome capping, Dora!

That’s all! Happy Thanksgiving from your friends at the Wire!
