Hey Wire Gang!

Every week we will send out our regular recap that will feature top handicappers for harness and thoroughbred along with any other accolades at the Winners Wire.

Weekly Sponsored/Buy In Contest Results

We’re deep into Q3, with the first month of the quarter complete. There have been a couple of exciting contests the last two weeks.

As it was the third week of the month, the first contest was of the thoroughbred flavor. We played last Saturday at Saratoga, with the previous winner, FPL kicking in to the pot. Eight players participated, and it started off with a gaggle of players scrambling the leaderboard in the first couple races. Mark and Zwiebel would jump to the lead in the third. Fixer and LAP would trade spots at the top of the standings in the 5th and 6th, and it remained close until Zwiebel jumped out to the front in the 8th. LAP would keep it close, but Zwiebel would hold on, with a final margin of $78.00-$73.60. Congratulations Victoria, nice playing Larry, and thanks Frankie for kicking in!

This past Saturday, we returned to the Big M for our contest. It was also the final day of the month, and we’ll have an announcement on HOTM shortly. WinHarness very generously kicked $25 in to the pot, for a total of $65. Our sponsor jumped out to an early lead, that he would expand to double digits in the second and third. He maintained it for quite some time, and in the ninth, WH put it away, with his 6th win of the night. In the end, this was a wire-to-wire win, and WinHarness would edge out Fixer $97.70-$79.10. Outstanding performance Paul, thank you again for sponsoring and congratulations on the big win!

King of the Hill

We have completed five of the nine days in the popular Player’s challenge. Where do things currently stand? After the most recent card for the competition, Saturday at the Meadowlands, the top three in the standings are:

WinHarness – 27 points
Acetime – 24 Points
LAP_520 – 23 points

With four nights left in the competition, still plenty of time for the leaderboard to change. Day 6 of 9 is tonight at Mohawk – best of luck to all players!

HOTM Update

July is in the books! We have a couple of winners to announce.

The harness competition is complete, and one player has emerged ahead of the pack. Congratulations FPL on winning! He led all qualifying players with an ROI of $2.29 in July, on top of a 30.69% win percentage. Honorable mention to Tiger Rose ($2.45 ROI and 36.36% win percentage, 5 short of the minimum). Several others also had strong months. Now, as for the thouroughbred circuit – Mark was clearly the class of the field in July. His $2.23 ROI was best for all players, and his 39.39% was the leader by far. WTG Frankie and Mark! Best of luck to everybody in August!

Top Handicappers of the Week

Harness Handicapper of the Week: There were a good deal of strong performances in the past week, but The Fixer came out on top. His 50% win percentage and $2.62 ROI were the strongest performances for the week. Very nice showing, Fixer!

Thoroughbred Handicapper of the Week: How about the tbreds? Same story! The Fixer put up a ridiculous $4.05 ROI, and a 36.84% win percentage for the week. Great playing on both circuits!

Long Shot of the Week: As we come to a close, time to take a look at the top paying pick in the past week. Last Thursday at Arlington, The Fixer had picked a gem in the third. #4 Exquisite Lady paid $36.20 to win, and was a big part of Fixer’s $55 in wins for the eight-race card. WTG Frankie, great playing this past week!

July is out, August is in! Best of luck in all contests everybody, and stay cool!
